The Story
Anna Martinova
Born in Latvia and now based in the Netherlands, Anna Martinova is a multi-talented electronic music composer, DJ, and singer with a career spanning over 20 years. She’s known for her deep connection to dark progressive and dark psychedelic trance, both as a DJ and music producer. Since 2012, Anna has been releasing tracks with respected labels like Detroit Underground and Ovnimoon Records.
Anna’s creative evolution hit a high note when she discovered modular synthesis. Performing live as Tulpa | Dusha, she embraced modular gear completely, switching to live performances with her personalized system in 2017.
In 2018, Anna founded Modular Moon | Modular Synthesis School, a pioneering initiative in Amsterdam that’s both a school and a platform for sonic exploration. Modular Moon has expanded its reach to cities like Mexico City, Santiago, Barcelona, and more, with satellite hubs in the UK, Japan, China, and Russia. Supported by the global modular community, the project runs workshops, collaborates with industry icons, promotes sound synthesis education, and features its own DIY lab and unique audio design program.
Anna is also a co-author of Modular Sound Synthesis On the Moon, an innovative learning method co-written with Pete Johnston, reflecting her passion for inspiring the next wave of sound creators.
Tulpa | Dusha
Tulpa | Dusha are two audio projects, created by Anna Martinova, original from Baltic shores. Tulpa audio stories are night dance oriented psychedelic trance DJ sets and live modular techno improvisations. Dusha is the music, composed and sung by the girl. Both projects are played live with modular synthesis system and additional instruments or Dj sets.
